To pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Montserrat remains as strong an experience of spiritual renewal as it has always been. Starting from Barcelona and heading inland, the sacred mountain of Montserrat stands out amongst the surrounding landscape and adjacent mountains due to its unique and striking shapes. This CD contains beautiful polyphonic and monodic songs about the miracles of Black Virgin of Montserrat in Latin, Catalan and Galician languages. Initially released in 2008 this recording by Ensemble Micrologus has proved to be a fascinating collection documenting the most important works of the fourteenth century. We're thrilled to be able to officially release this disc for the first time in the UK. The Italian Medieval ensemble, Micrologus, has led the way in Italy amongst early music groups for over 30 years - helping to rediscover rare and previously unrecorded medieval music accurately in their performances.
