Compared to baroque music, the interpretation of 19th century music has so far apparently remained on the well-worn paths of a less flexible performance tradition. This seems to be especially true for the piano music of the 19th century. The pianist Patrick Scheyder bases his new approach to interpretation on his affinity for improvisation, which becomes the key to his extraordinary interpretative approach. An important element in this revision of the traditional Liszt interpretation is also the Pleyel grand piano from 1846, whose sound and mechanics had a decisive influence on Scheyder's approach
